The Santiago Bernabeu will host the Copa del Rey final on Friday night between Atletico Madrid (Who will be the home team) and Real Madrid.

With both teams not able to come out with any other silverware this season, the Copa del Rey is a must for both Madrid teams as they continue their season.

Atletico Madrid:

Atletico Madrid, with their main man Radamel Falcao, will be looking forward to winning the Copa del Rey but have the extra incentive of not beating Real Madrid in 14 years. They will be ready to step up to the challenge and try playing against Los Merengues’ weak points in the game. Even though the game will be played in the Santiago Bernabeu, the fans will be split 50/50 and Atletico Madrid will be the home team.

Atletico Madrid’s Run In The CdR:

Jaen 0-3 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid 1-0 Jaen
Atletico Madrid 3-0 Getafe
Getafe 0-0 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid 2-0 Real Betis
Real Betis 1-1 Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid 2-1 Sevilla
Sevilla 2-2 Atletico Madrid

It could possibly be argued that Atletico Madrid may have taken the ‘easy’ way out but they had some very convincing games. Throughout the season, they were in a battle with Real Madrid for second place in La Liga but have not been able to make it happen and now all their concentration will be focused towards silverware in the Copa. They will need to come out with their best team and fight hard to come out with the win in the end.

Real Madrid:

Real Madrid have had quite a disappointing season as the Copa del Rey was their least important objective. Los Blancos were not able to catch up with Barcelona who won La Liga last week and they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals. Now, they will need to salvage whatever is left in the season, which is the Copa del Rey.

One minor upside is that Atletico Madrid have not beaten Real Madrid in 14 years but we cannot look at the past. They will still need to fight hard and show their hunger to win tomorrow night if they are to come out with any silverware this year.

Real Madrid’s Run In The CdR:

Alcoyano 1-4 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 3-0 Alcoyano
Celta de Vigo 2-1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 4-0 Celta de Vigo
Real Madrid 2-0 Valencia
Valencia 1-1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid 1-1 Barcelona
Barcelona 1-3 Real Madrid

Real Madrid have had a difficult run in the Copa del Rey so far as they were paired against teams such as Valencia and Barcelona but they were able to make it through in the end. Now, the last task awaits as they play against their city rivals, Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid –

Now, both teams will have to do everything in their power for one last push in the Copa del Rey. Hopefully, Real Madrid will be able to come out with the win in the end as the season nears its end…
