Real Madrid came back from the international break as they visited Almeria in search for the three points in La Liga before their UEFA Champions League clash against Galatasaray.

Starting Lineup:

With the injuries to Sami Khedira, Marcelo, and Fabio Coentrao, Carlo Ancelotti had to make some changes in order to come out with the strongest possible eleven. With Alvaro Arbeloa playing on the left and Asier Illarramendi in midfield, it was a perfect plan to come out with the points. The starting lineup consisted of:

Diego Lopez, Dani Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos [C], Alvaro Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso, Asier Illarramendi, Gareth Bale, Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Scorers:

Almeria –

Real Madrid –
Cristiano Ronaldo (3′)
Karim Benzema (61′)
Gareth Bale (72′)
Isco (75′)
Alvaro Morata (81′)

A Great Return:

Real Madrid have come back after quite a hectic international break for some of the players but it did not seem to distract them as they were able to come out with a very convincing 5-0 win against Almeria. There were points where things were a little scary as Almeria kept doing everything in their power to attack, but at the same time Los Merengues were also able to score more than 5 goals in the game.

Gareth Bale:

Gareth Bale started yet again last night as he was on for the full 90 minutes. His performance wasn’t as great as the previous ones as many of his opportunities were seen going off-target. With all that, the Wales international was able to get himself on the scoresheet after some defensive confusion from the Almeria players. In the end, you can’t really expect every single player to perform 100% in every game that he plays. With that said, Gareth Bale still was able to make a difference in the game and has shown his passion for doing everything he possibly can to help Los Blancos come out of the match with three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo Injury:

Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a great first half, had to be substituted off on the 52nd minute of the game as he was feeling discomfort in his leg. The reason this worried a lot of the fans is because Ronaldo is known not to want to leave unless it was something serious. After the match both Carlo Ancelotti and Cristiano Ronaldo confirmed that it was nothing serious and he was substituted off just as a precaution. In my opinion, I think that he should be rested during the game against Galatasaray just to avoid any unnecessary problems.

Xabi Alonso:

What a legend. Xabi Alonso was easily the best player on the pitch as he did everything to perfection. The elegance that this man plays with is simply a joy to watch for any football fan. Alonso has shown why he is so important to this team as he was always there to help with the defensive duties as well as coming out with some amazing passes and distributing the ball perfectly. What a night for the Spanish international.

A Night For The Youth:

Asier Illarramendi started the game while many other young Spanish players were waiting on the bench for their chance to shine. With the injury to Cristiano Ronaldo, Jese was given an opportunity to show what he is capable of. Soon after that, Alvaro Morata came on for Karim Benzema and was able to get his name on the scoresheet. Last but not least was Carlos Casemiro, who took Illarramendi’s place and played beautifully as he almost got his name on the scoresheet as well.
