Real Madrid visited Real Betis in a must-win game as they are now level on points with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, with both teams waiting to play tomorrow.

Starting Lineup:

Carlo Ancelotti decided to make a couple changes to the team that played against Osasuna with Fabio Coentrao not called up and Jese starting the game from the bench. The starting lineup consisted of:

Diego Lopez, Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos [C], Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema.

Real Betis:

Real Madrid:
Cristiano Ronaldo (10′)
Gareth Bale (25′)
Karim Benzema (46′)
Angel Di Maria (62′)
Alvaro Morata (90′)

Luka Modric:

There is only so much to say about Luka Modric, who seems to keep improving with every single game that passes. His distribution of the ball and his speed have made some major differences in the games and he is becoming one of the best midfielders in the world once again. After a rough patch with the team last season, it seems as though he has finally been able to settle in well with the team and show everything that he is able to do. Another great night for the Croatian.

Karim Benzema:

With all the negativity surrounding Karim Benzema (including from myself), he has been able to keep trying and improve with each game that passes. Tonight, in my opinion, was one of his better games as he was always open to chances while trying to help the team out. He messed up an incredible opportunity but soon after was able to make amends and score the third goal of the game. Benzema has now scored 100 goals for Real Madrid!

Gareth Bale:

There is no denying that Gareth Bale (Or Bareth Gale, as I have become used to calling him) has not reached his full potential with Real Madrid. Many factors have influenced his problems since he has arrived to the club. With that said, there is also no denying that he is an exceptional player and we have seen some of his greatness on the pitch already whenever he gets the ball. Against Real Betis, he was able to score a wonderful free-kick which left their goalkeeper standing as the ball went past him.

Angel Di Maria:

So much controversy has surrounded Angel Di Maria so far this season and it seemed as though it was finally getting to him as his form has dropped and, on the pitch, he has been trying to do ‘too much’ to make a difference. Today was a perfect day for the Argentinean as he was able to connect with the team beautifully and also score a wonderful goal from 35 yards out. Hopefully, things will improve from here!
