Real Madrid visited Schalke 04 in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League Knockout Round as they were able to come out with a very convincing win.

Starting Lineup:

Carlo Ancelotti came out with a very convincing starting lineup on the night as the team were more than ready to beat any opposition. The starting lineup consisted of:

Iker Casillas [C], Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Schalke 04 –
Klaas Jan Huntelaar (91′)

Real Madrid –
Karim Benzema (13′)
Gareth Bale (21′)
Cristiano Ronaldo (52′)
Karim Benzema (57′)
Gareth Bale (69′)
Cristiano Ronaldo (89′)

Iker Casillas:

Iker Casillas has written history once again after completing 952 minutes without conceding a goal. The Real Madrid legend continues to show that he really is still one of the greatest goalkeepers around with a great save early in the game from Draxler. Whether or not he deserves to be Real Madrid’s Number One is still up for debate but there is no arguing that he is not doing his best to prove his worth to the team.

The BBC:

The BBC (Benzema, Bale, Cristiano) have shown just how deadly they can be on a good day as they absolutely demolished the opposition on the night. With two goals each, it really is difficult for anyone to find a better attacking trio than them three. A beautiful night for all the players but these three have really shown that they are able to perform perfectly together on the big stage.

Sergio Ramos:

Sergio Ramos has had his ups and downs with Real Madrid but the game against Schalke was one for everyone to remember. It was pretty much a perfect night for the Spanish international and he was able to make his presence known, especially with a wonderful assist to Gareth Bale. He is one of the greatest defenders of our generation and continues to show his love and admiration for the team.

Karim Benzema:

The game against Schalke has really shown why Los Merengues decided to keep Karim Benzema as he had a great match with two goals and two assists on the night. He was always up for making a difference and has proven that he is a lethal attacker. Benzema has been very inconsistent but it seems as though he has finally been able to find his needed confidence and is showing all of us that he really is capable of so much more. A perfect night for the Frenchman.
