Transfer Deadline Day: What To Expect?

We have finally reached the point where we can almost say that all teams have officially been finalized. Tomorrow, September 1, is the Transfer Deadline Day. But, even though many of us are really looking forward to the transfer window finally closing, it certainly does not mean that there won’t be chaos happening until then. When focusing on Real Madrid, I personally think that it is very clear to see that our team is not fully finalized at the moment.

Selling some important players at the club such as Alvaro Morata (Juventus), Diego Lopez (AC Milan), Angel Di Maria (Manchester United), and Xabi Alonso (Bayern Munich), Real Madrid have only been able to purchase three players during the transfer window so far. Those three players are Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich), James Rodriguez (AS Monaco), and Keylor Navas (Levante). With that said, they are still lacking a little something as they only have 21 players with 18 of them being outfield players. Here is a look at Real Madrid’s current squad:

Goalkeepers –
Iker Casillas
Keylor Navas
Fernando Pacheco

Defenders –
Pepe
Sergio Ramos
Raphael Varane
Nacho Fernandez
Alvaro Arbeloa
Daniel Carvajal
Fabio Coentrao
Marcelo

Midfielders –
Sami Khedira
Asier Illarramendi
Toni Kroos
Isco
James Rodriguez
Luka Modric
Gareth Bale

Forwards –
Karim Benzema
Cristiano Ronaldo
Jese Rodriguez

As you can see, Real Madrid have a very strong team but they will need to be very wary of fitness and therefore there is a very good possibility that it will be close to impossible for them to compete for the following four titles. This will be one of their longest seasons in recent years due to the winning of the UEFA Champions League and an extra player or two will be extremely helpful.

According to the rumors, which are in full flow as usual, here are the players linked to join Real Madrid:

Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) –
Marco Reus is undoubtedly a phenomenal player and it seems like his buyout clause is quite low at Borussia Dortmund. Also, Bayern Munich haven’t really made it a secret that they are interested in the player and therefore Dortmund may want to let go of him to Real Madrid rather than see yet another player go to their German rivals and follow the paths of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski. I personally do not see this move happening, at least not during this transfer window.

Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco) –
This is easily the most legitimate rumor going around as it is expected that Radamel Falcao will be leaving Monaco in order to join Real Madrid. Manchester City have joined the race as well but it looks like Los Blancos are the frontrunners at the moment. Last night, Falcao tweeted that joining Real Madrid is a dream come true but quickly deleted it. The tweet IS true and is not photoshopped as I was on Twitter at the time and saw when it was tweeted. Do not believe anyone who says that it is photoshopped or fake since it was proven otherwise.

Alvaro Negredo (Manchester City) –
As I mentioned earlier, Manchester City have joined the race to sign Radamel Falcao. Since City have a surplus of attacking power, they will probably need to get rid of at least one striker and the only clear choice would be Negredo as he could be keen to move back to his boyhood club. The problem is that he is injured at the moment and therefore it could ruin any chance of a potential deal.

Javier Hernandez (Manchester United) –
Javier (Chicharito) Hernandez is already a back-up striker at Manchester United and it could work in Real Madrid’s favor as they look for a back-up to their striker, Karim Benzema. He is great off the bench but I’m personally not sure if he is good enough for a club such as Real Madrid.

These are the main players that are linked with a move to Real Madrid as we are only one day away from the Transfer Deadline Day. Of course, not all of them will be joining the Los Merengues squad but I am expecting at least one more transfer in order to find a second striker and help us lose the dependance on Karim Benzema. It looks like we have a long two days coming up and we will just have to wait and see what will be happening by the time it all ends.
