Granada hosted Real Madrid in a game which could have been tricky but Los Merengues were able to come out with a very comfortable 4-0 win as they continue to show their great form recently as they have now made it 11 wins in a row!

Starting Lineup:

With many of the players being rested in the previous midweek game against Cornella in the Copa del Rey, Carlo Ancelotti decided to field the same lineup that played in El Clasico as he did not want to take any unnecessary risks on the night. The starting lineup consisted of:

Iker Casillas [C], Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, James Rodriguez, Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema

Scorers:

Granada –
——

Real Madrid –
Cristiano Ronaldo (2′)
James Rodriguez (31′)
Karim Benzema (54′)
James Rodriguez (87′)

Early Goal:

Real Madrid were able to completely dominate the match after Cristiano Ronaldo’s early goal against Granada. That goal completely threw Granada off their game and forced them to come out and attack, which therefore lead Real Madrid to score more goals against them. Granada know their strong points and were planning to work on using them against Los Blancos but that all changed after a second minute goal from the visitors.

James Rodriguez:

James Rodriguez is slowly showing just how good he really is. The young Colombian arrived in Madrid last summer amidst some controversy since his arrival meant that Angel Di Maria was the one to leave. With that said, he was able to cement a place in the starting lineup and has been able to show his worth with some great skills and even greater goals, including his first goal last night against Granada. That’s a goal that I would be willing to watch over and over again!

Karim Benzema:

Karim Benzema is improving with each day that passes. He was able to start against Cornella but wasn’t at his best (which was fully expected) but, against Granada, he came back very strong as he recorded two assists and a goal to his name. The Frenchman was able to assist Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal and James’ first goal and took his own goal very well. Another great game for Benzema as he shows that he simply has no desire to stop anytime soon.

Top of the League?

At this very moment, Real Madrid are top of the league after Barcelona’s shocking 1-0 loss to Celta de Vigo. Now, they await Sevilla to play their game. A win or a draw will see Los Merengues be top. If Sevilla are able to win their game, then they will be the leaders of La Liga for this week. Things are getting extremely exciting right now!
