Real Madrid hosted Malaga in La Liga as they had no other choice but to win after Barcelona claimed all three points against Valencia earlier in the night.

Starting Lineup:

Carlo Ancelotti made a few minor tweaks to the starting lineup as he also had an eye on the upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Atletico Madrid. The starting lineup consisted of:

Iker Casillas [C], Alvaro Arbeloa, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Isco

Real Madrid –
Sergio Ramos (24′)
James Rodriguez (69′)
Cristiano Ronaldo (90′)

Malaga –
Juan Lopez (71′)

Gareth Bale:

Gareth Bale’s time on the pitch lasted approximately two minutes as he was seen sitting on the pitch and grabbing his left calf muscle. The medical team went on to check what was happening as they looked at Carlo Ancelotti and asked him to make a substitution since the Welshman would not have been able to continue the game. It isn’t sure yet when Bale will be able to re-join the squad but it seems that it may need some time. He was replaced with Chicharito after only a couple minutes as the Mexican went on to really help the team during the match.

Luka Modric:

Some extreme bad news reached Real Madrid during the game as Luka Modric had to leave the game on the hour mark after twisting his knee during a collision with a Malaga player. He had to be taken off the pitch and substituted with Asier Illarramendi and is currently undergoing some tests. Early signs have shown that the Croatian will be out for around 5-6 weeks with the injury as Real  Madrid are in major trouble without him. During the earlier injury that he had, Los Blancos had a major dip in form and, with the season getting a lot more difficult, not having Modric could be the reason for another dip in form…

Cristiano Ronaldo:

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken yet another record after his last minute goal against Malaga as the Portuguese forward was able to score 50+ goals in five consecutive seasons! There is still some way to go until the end of the year and we are all expecting more goals from the best player in the world! His form and skill will be needed as Los Merengues continue their fight in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

During the past couple weeks, Chicharito has been able to prove himself to the team. For a few months, we didn’t see anything from the Manchester United player who’s on loan to the club since he didn’t get any opportunities to feature for the team. He has now been able to get a few chances and has been taking them extremely well! Now, I’m not saying that he deserves a starting place ahead of players such as Karim Benzema but he definitely provides something different with his speed and his eye for goal. The Mexican forward truly has a lot to offer!
