Alvaro Morata’s equalizer at the Santiago Bernabeu has knocked Real Madrid out of the competition as the dream of “La Undecima” has ended for this year.

Starting Lineup:

Carlo Ancelotti named his strongest eleven for the night as Karim Benzema was back in the squad list after a month-long injury. The starting eleven consisted of:

Iker Casillas [C], Daniel Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Isco, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Real Madrid –
Cristiano Ronaldo (23′)

Juventus –
Alvaro Morata (57′)

Karim Benzema:

Karim Benzema was declared fit for the game and played quite decently overall. He certainly wasn’t at his best and that was expected after his month-long injury. He was able to connect very well with the rest of the Real Madrid squad and was also able to have a few opportunities. Unfortunately, none of which were able to be counted as a goal.

Gareth Bale:

Gareth Bale has been getting criticized massively this season and the game against Juventus was certainly no exception. The Welshman had numerous chances to get his name on the scoresheet but wasn’t able to get any of them in the back of the net. With that said, the criticism for the game against Juventus has been extremely over the top for Bale as I see it as one of his good (yet quite unlucky) games this season.

Deserved Win For Juventus:

When all is said and done, we have to admit the truth: Juventus deserve to be in the Final of the UEFA Champions League. The Italian Champions were underrated massively and have shown that they are capable of so much more than anyone was initially expecting of them. Over the two legs, they were the better team and were able to take their chances extremely well. Alvaro Morata was certainly the man who made this dream possible for them and it will be extremely interesting to see what tricks they have up their sleeves for the Final in Berlin on  June 6.

Two Dreams End In One Week:

On Saturday, Real Madrid played against Valencia in a must-win game at the Santiago Bernabeu after Barcelona beat Real Sociedad a couple hours before the match. Unfortunately, Los Merengues were not able to make it happen as they came back from being two goals down to equalizing at 2-2 and practically gifting the League to the Catalans. Now, this draw against Juventus meant that Real Madrid have been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League and their dreams of coming out of this season with a trophy has ended. They have also been knocked out of the Copa del Rey earlier in the season.
