According to the latest reports, David de Gea has told his current club, Manchester United, that he wants to leave and join Real Madrid. Apparently, Real Madrid have offered 15 Million Euros for him while the English club are asking for no less than 30, which is why things seem to be taking a little longer than initially expected. The reasoning behind the “low” bid is that his contact expires in one year and, if he is in fact interested in joining Real Madrid, it would be better for Manchester United to accept the bid now as they can actually get some money out of it.
Furthermore, there are reports which suggest that Florentino Perez will be sitting with Jorge Mendez (De Gea’s agent) in order to discuss personal terms before his move to the Spanish capital. Manchester United have already offered David de Gea a new contract but he has not agreed to anything yet and there is major speculation suggesting that he will turn it down.
Louis van Gaal, the manager of Manchester United, has already lined up a couple players who can take the place of the goalkeeper with Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris and Chelsea’s Petr Cech on the radar.
It seems like we will just have to wait and see how things progress since there has been no official word from Real Madrid, Manchester United, or David de Gea himself on the matter. Who knows? This could all just be pure speculation…
