Real Madrid visited Cadiz for their first game in the Copa del Rey this season as the second half was full of drama regarding Denis Cheryshev and his involvement in the match.
Rafael Benitez took this opportunity to rest many of his key players and give others a chance on the night as we also saw names such as Isco and James Rodriguez on the pitch. The starting lineup consisted of:
Kiko Casilla, Alvaro Arbeloa, Pepe [C], Marcos Llorente, Nacho, Carlos Casemiro, James Rodriguez, Lucas Vazquez, Isco, Denis Cheryshev, and Jese
Kike Marquez (88′)
Real Madrid –
Denis Cheryshev (3′)
Just like it is with many of the other players at Real Madrid this season under Rafael Benitez, James Rodriguez hasn’t been at his best. During the match against Cadiz, he came out with two magnificent assists as Los Merengues won 3-1 in the match. With that said, James does have a problem with Rafael Benitez and it showed after he was substituted and didn’t want to even look at him! This team is crumbling and something has to be done about it.
Denis Cheryshev was one of the players that the Real Madrid fans were excited to watch and it was proven after he got his name on the scoresheet after only three minutes of gameplay! During half time, it was noted that he was suspended during his last game in the Copa del Rey and therefore should be ineligible to play the game. The consequences for that type of offence is a fine and instant disqualification from the competition.
Apparently, we are a small club that can’t get our s*** in order…
When will it be the end of Rafael Benitez? I am not the type of person who would want the manager sacked after a few bad results or whatnot but the problem is that we simply are not Real Madrid with him! The way that we have been playing since the beginning of the season has been something that we have not yet seen with this squad and this is the reason why so many people were against having him in the beginning of the season.
