Real Madrid have had many problems on their travels this season and the game against Granada was no exception.

Starting Lineup:

As expected, Zinedine Zidane made no changes to his starting lineup for the match. The starting eleven consisted of:

Keylor Navas, Daniel Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos [C], Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, James Rodriguez, Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Granada –
Youssef  El-Arabi (60′)

Real Madrid –
Karim Benzema (30′)
Luka Modric (85′)

Not a performance to remember for Isco as he didn’t seem himself during the match. Granada were pressuring very well and that is trouble for the Spaniard as he usually needs his space to show his true capabilities. He was substituted late in the second half and replaced by Mateo Kovacic but that substitution should have happened a lot earlier.

James Rodriguez:

I think that, as of now, James Rodriguez isn’t Zinedine Zidane’s main choice when it comes to picking the starting eleven as the only times that he played from the beginning were during Gareth Bale’s injury. To be honest, it’s quite plain to see why as he struggled a lot against Granada and wasn’t able to show himself during the match at all. He was replaced by Jese during the second half as well.

Luka Modric:

Putting aside the goal for a minute, Luka Modric had a very decent match against Granada. He was one of the sparks for Los Merengues as he had some fantastic passes throughout the 90 minutes. His goal in the 85th minute will be remembered for a while after that unbelievable strike from outside the box to score his first goal of the season.

Even though the game ended in smiles (for most Madridistas), there was a stroke of really bad news as Marcelo ended the match on the floor. It was later revealed that the Brazilian left-back has a problem with his shoulder and it’s feared that he dislocated it. If that turns out to be true, he will most probably miss Real Madrid’s next couple games including the UEFA Champions League tie against AS Roma on the 17th. Further news will follow during the next couple days.
