Real Madrid visited Getafe with a slightly rotated squad but they were able to come out with three very convincing points on the night.

Starting Lineup:

Zinedine Zidane made a few changes to the starting team that started against Wolfsburg and it paid off. The starting lineup consisted of:

Keylor Navas, Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Raphael Varane, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Isco, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Scorers:

Getafe –
Pablo Sarabia (84′)

Real Madrid –
Karim Benzema (29′)
Isco (40′)
Gareth Bale (50′)
James Rodriguez (88′)
Cristiano Ronaldo (90′)

James Rodriguez:

James Rodriguez is one of the players that knows he will be fighting to stay in the team and he has been doing it quite well. He hasn’t really impressed much this season but there is no denying his capabilities, and the match against Getafe was just a glimpse of what he is able to do. Will he be a Real Madrid player next season? I guess we’ll have to just wait and see…

Karim Benzema:

I was actually quite surprised to see Karim Benzema starting the game as it would have been a good idea to rest him. Either way, he had an average match and was able to get his name on the scoresheet as well. Since his return from injury and the confirmation that he won’t be joining France in the upcoming Euro competition, I feel like he is coping well and will be back to his very best soon.

Isco:

Isco ended the match with many plaudits but he didn’t start the game too strong, in all honesty. The Spaniard had some problems controlling the ball and making the needed passes but, as the game wore on, his improvement was very apparent to see as he continued and got his name on the scoresheet as well! Overall a good night for Isco…

Cristiano Ronaldo:

I understand that, as one of the best players in the world, you want to play every single game but Cristiano Ronaldo should be rested at times as well. We are extremely close to the final of the UEFA Champions League and can’t afford having players who end up suffering from injury or fatigue. Even if he starts the match, it would be a good idea to take him off especially if the team are comfortably leading.

My Personal Player Ratings:

Keylor Navas – 8/10
Daniel Carvajal – 8/10
Pepe – 7.5/10
Raphael Varane – 8/10

Toni Kroos – 9/10
Isco – 7.5/10
Gareth Bale – 7/10
James Rodriguez – 8.5/10
Cristiano Ronaldo – 7/10
Karim Benzema – 6.5/10
