Real Madrid did what they could in the past few weeks to keep the pressure on Barcelona but the season has ended as Los Merengues are one point behind the league champions.
Zinedine Zidane could not take any chances with his starting lineup as he had to field the strongest possible squad on the night. The starting lineup consisted of:
Keylor Navas, Daniel Carvajal, Pepe, Sergio Ramos [C], Marcelo, Carlos Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Barcelona Crowned As Champions:
About two months ago, no one would have expected to see La Liga go on until the final matchday but that is exactly what happened as the point deficit decreased from 11 points until one and Real Madrid kept the pressure on. Unfortunately, things just weren’t meant to be as the Catalans won all the remaining games and kept the one point lead intact until the final day.
With yet another clean sheet, Keylor Navas has now not conceded a goal in his last 436 minutes in all competitions (7 hours and 16 minutes)! He is one of the main reasons that Real Madrid were able to end the season in second place and, personally, I hope that he is still with us next season.
With his goals against Deportivo La Coruna, Cristiano Ronaldo has now been able to break a new record as he is the first player ever to score 50+ goals in six consecutive seasons! Any talk of him not being among the best in the world is complete nonsense as he continues to prove otherwise.
In the history of Real Madrid, no manager has been able to come out with 17 wins in 20 games other than Zinedine Zidane. The French manager has proven himself and, no matter what happens in the UEFA Champions League Final, he deserves to be our manager next season to show what he is truly capable of.
