It has officially been confirmed! Real Madrid have exercised their buy-back option on Alvaro Morata as he is back with us right now. Los Merengues have released an official statement with the news:
“Real Madrid C. F. have informed Juventus FC of their decision to salvage the federative rights on the player Álvaro Morata, who will join up with the first team for pre-season training under the command of Zinedine Zidane.”
Alvaro Morata has had quite a good couple seasons with Juventus as he now comes back to the Spanish capital with a lot to offer. If you’re not too familiar with the Spanish striker, you can see just what he is capable of with Spain during the EURO 2016.
Having said that, many believe that he won’t be wearing a Real Madrid jersey once the season begins as there have been talks of selling him to other clubs during this summer. If that’s true, Real Madrid will surely want to benefit from the player and will therefore look to sell him to the highest bidder. According to the rumors, some of the clubs interested are Arsenal and Chelsea.
My personal opinion is that we should definitely keep the striker as he has shown how good he is and he can definitely help the squad improve. If he stays though, he will want to be a starter and it will be difficult to guarantee him that with Karim Benzema up front.
One thing is for sure though: This will be a very interesting yet confusing summer for Real Madrid, their fans, and mostly Alvaro Morata.
