Real Madrid continued their perfect start to the season with a fairly easy win against Osasuna, as they now have nine points from their first three games and look to take that form into the UEFA Champions League this week.

Starting Lineup:

Zinedine Zidane decided to rest a couple players and would have surely been happy with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, even though both players didn’t play a full match (as expected). The starting lineup consisted of:

Kiko Casilla, Danilo, Pepe, Sergio Ramos [C], Nacho, Toni Kroos, Mateo Kovacic, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Real Madrid –
Cristiano Ronaldo (6′)
Danilo (41′)
Sergio Ramos (45)
Pepe (56′)
Luka Modric (62′)

Osasuna –
Oriol Riera (64′)
David Garcia (78′)

Cristiano Ronaldo:

He’s back but, as many expected, not at his best yet. We were able to see some explosive runs from the Portuguese but Cristiano Ronaldo will need some time to be fully fit and ready to show his true capabilities. Having said that, he was able to get his name on the scoresheet after only six minutes and it remains to be seen whether he will play a part against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night.

No Casemiro, No Problem:

Many Madridistas, including myself, were worried to see how the team would be if anything happened to Carlos Casemiro and it seems that, at least against the ‘smaller’ teams in the division, there isn’t much to worry about. Mateo Kovacic was able to team up with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and the team were able to perform quite well in the Brazilian’s absence, who was rested for the match.

Three Defenders, Three Goals:

We have become used to seeing Sergio Ramos score some great headers as he did against Osasuna but Pepe and Danilo were both able to get their names on the scoresheet during the match as well! Pepe’s header and Danilo’s shot from the edge of the box helped Los Merengues come out with a convincing 5-2 win on the night.
