Real Madrid are back in action tomorrow night against the German giants, Bayern Munich, coached by the massively loved Carlo Ancelotti. Personally, if there was one team that I would have loved to avoid in the UEFA Champions League, it would have undoubtedly been Bayern but, as we know, we have to beat the best in order to win this competition and we will be playing against one of the best teams in the tournament in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Bayern Munich

Taking a look at Bayern Munich, they seem more than prepared to go against Los Merengues with Carlo Ancelotti making sure that most of his star players are well-rested and ready for battle. The Italian manager is extremely familiar with the current Real Madrid squad and that will be a massive advantage for him on the night. He may not know what tactics Zinedine Zidane will be coming out with but he knows the little tricks and moves of all the players and that could end up being the difference on the night.

Bayern Munich’s Last 5 Matches:

Bayern Munich 3-0 Eintracht (Bundesliga)
Monchengladbach 0-1 Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)
Bayern Munich 6-0 FC Ausburg (Bundesliga)
Hoffenheim 1-0 Bayern Munich (Bundesliga)
Bayern Munich 4-1 Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga)

Putting aside a shock 1-0 loss to Hoffenheim, the Bavarians have come out with some extremely convincing results albeit to teams that are “smaller” than Los Blancos aside from Borussia Dortmund, who they convincingly beat earlier this week. There is no doubt that they are ready but will have to be slightly worried with the injury news of Mats Hummels and Manuel Neuer (doubtful) who won’t be able to take part in the upcoming fixture.

Real Madrid:

Coming out from a fresh 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid, it’s safe to say that Los Merengues have continued to find various ways to lose concentration during their matches. It has happened many times before and it will keep on happening, unfortunately. The problem now is that losing concentration against Bayern Munich is suicidal and could be the reason Los Blancos end up getting knocked out of the competition.

Real Madrid’s Last 5 Matches:

Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis (La Liga)
Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Real Madrid (La Liga)
Real Madrid 3-0 Alaves (La Liga)
Leganes 2-4 Real Madrid (La Liga)
Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

Dropping only two points from their last 5 games, Real Madrid’s main problem is their defending/goalkeeping as they have only kept one clean sheet in those matches. Against the lethal Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben, we need to be a lot more careful. To make matters worse, the injuries to Pepe and Raphael Varane have hurt us as Sergio Ramos will lineup alongside Nacho Fernandez for the upcoming matches.
