Real Madrid visited Malaga as all that they needed was one point in order to secure the league title and, thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, they were able to get all three.

Starting Lineup:

Zinedine Zidane decided against rotating the squad and named the same lineup that started against Celta de Vigo in midweek as he aimed to go for the win on the night. The starting eleven consisted of:

Keylor Navas, Danilo, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos [C], Marcelo, Carlos Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema

Scorers:

Malaga –
——

Real Madrid –
Cristiano Ronaldo (2′)
Karim Benzema (55′)

Cristiano Ronaldo:

The man really knows how to show up in the big moments and has been able to do it once again after scoring the opening goal beautifully in less than two minutes! The Portuguese forward has admitted that he benefited from the rotations and the rest that Zidane has given him and now he’s been able to reach the final stage of the season in exceptional form!

Danilo:

Not all was perfect and Danilo was unfortunately one of the reasons behind that. The Brazilian right-back seemed confused and even though he tried doing what he could in order to make an impact on the game, he was not strong defensively and Malaga took full advantage of that throughout the match.

Zinedine Zidane:

Credit NEEDS to be given to Zinedine Zidane who was able to use his squad brilliantly throughout the season. It has been a season full of ups and downs but the French manager has been magnificent. His man-management is something that should be taught to other aspiring managers and his ability to make decisive rotations with the squad that he has is simply unbelievable. Yes, the team is strong and Real Madrid has depth that teams will only dream of but that cannot take away from Zidane’s genius.

Isco:

One of the most impressive players with Real Madrid this season, Isco has decided to calm all the nerves by admitting that he will be wearing the Los Merengues jersey next season and will not be going anywhere whether or not he plays in the UEFA Champions League Final against Juventus.
