This is a transfer that has been in the works for quite some time but has finally been confirmed by both clubs as Alvaro Odriozola officially joins Real Madrid.

The Spanish right-back probably felt extra motivation to join given the fact that Julen Lopetegui is now the manager and called him up to the Spain World Cup squad while leaving out someone like Sergi Roberto.

Odriozola is not expected to be a starter for the team but will give some competition to Daniel Carvajal while the current backup, Achraf Hakimi, is expected to leave the club on loan for a season or two.

This is a signing that may have gone a little under the radar with everything happening in the World Cup but there is no denying that it is a massive signing for Los Merengues, who continue their new tradition of boasting some of the world’s best young talents after also confirming the signings of Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr. from Brazil.
