PSG 3-0 Real Madrid: Player Ratings

Real Madrid came out with a heavy loss as they were completely dominated in Paris throughout the 90 minutes.

Player Ratings –

Thibaut Courtois – 3/10
Yet again, the Belgian found himself conceding from the near post early in the game. Yet another match without a clean sheet as people begin to wonder exactly why he was chosen ahead of Keylor Navas.

Dani Carvajal – 3/10
An absolute horror show for Dani Carvajal who surprisingly (or non-surprisingly if you’re as heavy-headed as Zidane) completed 90 minutes on the pitch.

Raphael Varane – 5/10
Was supposed to be the experienced central defender and assist Eder Militao throughout whenever required but even though he did better than the Brazilian, it really was not a good outing for him.

Eder Militao – 4/10
Given the chance to make his full debut, Eder Militao couldn’t have hoped for a more difficult encounter. His lack of match practice and cohesion with the squad was evident for anyone to see.

Ferland Mendy – 6/10
An extremely strong first half performance showed exactly why Zidane wanted to bring him to the club. He was arguably our best player in the first 45 minutes but saw his performance decrease quite a bit during the second half of the match.

Carlos Casemiro – 3/10
A very poor outing from Casemiro who simply couldn’t get his head in the game. He did more harm than good overall and even though he had a couple good moments, it wasn’t anywhere near enough to save his overall performance.

Toni Kroos – 5/10
Not a good game from Toni Kroos who struggled a lot in midfield. Couldn’t find the spaces due to PSG’s incredible structure and he was unable to find ways to break them down.

James Rodriguez – 5.5/10
It was extremely clear that James was doing everything in his power to make a change in the game but he couldn’t at all. He needs the team to be available and they weren’t at any point in the match.

Gareth Bale – 6.5/10
Easily Real Madrid’s best player on the night and their best opportunity to get a goal. He actually scored a magnificent goal but was ruled for hand-ball (somehow). His second half performance died down a little and he was taken off because of it.

Eden Hazard – 5.5/10
Still a long way to go for Eden Hazard and he shouldn’t be judged on this match alone. The forwards were starving for the ball and couldn’t do much whenever they got it. He’ll continue improving after finally making his full debut.

Karim Benzema – 5/10
Whenever he got the ball, he did what he could. Having said that, there were periods of the match where he was invisible and that’s more of a blame to the team rather than to the French attacker.

Lucas Vazquez – 2/10
Came on for Eden Hazard for some weird reason and did worse as expected. Guaranteed Benzema’s only shot on target which found the back of the net would be ruled offside though.

Luka Jovic – N/A
Came on for James Rodriguez to add more firepower in attack but unfortunately he suffered the same destiny that the other forwards did

Vinicius Junior – N/A
Came on for Gareth Bale and pissed Angel Di Maria off.
