Real Mallorca 1-0 Real Madrid: Player Ratings

Real Madrid came out with an unexpected loss as they ended their unbeaten run against relegation candidates, Real Mallorca, and they lose their first-place position in La Liga.

Player Ratings:

Thibaut Courtois – 6/10
Not his best performance but definitely not his worst. Can’t be blamed for the conceded goal but his position in front of goal doesn’t exude confidence and that is easily read by the Los Blancos fans.

Alvaro Odriozola – 2/10
Pure immaturity to be sent off. Other than that, he had moments of brilliance but his inability to defend properly cost Real Madrid the early goal.

Eder Militao – 6/10
Could have done more to help Odriozola with Mallorca’s first goal but other than that he was solid throughout. His second half performance was a dramatic improvement from the first.

Sergio Ramos – 6/10
Had a good game overall and found himself attacking way more than he should have as Real Madrid were desperately seeking a goal.

Marcelo – 5/10
Not a very good outing for Marcelo who faced problems offensively and was unable to contribute as much as he would have wanted to whether up front or defensively.

Carlos Casemiro – 5/10
His tiredness is easy to see and having to do all the work with Zidane’s shocking lineup meant that Casemiro was getting no rest at all. The Brazilian struggled and had a lot of heavy touches and misplaced passes.

Isco – 3/10
Another game and another day where Isco shows that he’s not good enough. Is it time to say that this could very well be his final season at the club? Him being sold this summer will leave a much-deserved opening for Dani Ceballos to return.

James Rodriguez – 6/10
Easily one of Real Madrid’s best players on the pitch but it looked like he played every single position. Was continuously moved by Zidane and the Colombian was able to perform in almost all positions. This isn’t necessarily a good thing though but James delivered.

Vinicius Junior – 4.5/10
Hard to blame him for much but his final touch is embarrassingly terrible. However, his runs and his abilities showed that as soon as the finishing touch is fixed, he could genuinely be the finished product.

Karim Benzema – 5/10
The closest to finding the back of the net as his shot hit the crossbar but other than that he was unable to do anything  of note as he was isolated during large parts of the game. Came back to try and create something but unfortunately nothing happened.

Luka Jovic – 3/10
Another worrying match for Jovic who couldn’t find the back of the net and was practically non-existent for most of his time on the pitch.

Federico Valverde – 6/10
Came on for Isco and immediately we could see the control in midfield. The Uruguayan was brought on WAY too late.

Rodrygo Goes – 4.5/10
Came on for Luka Jovic to add some flair on the wings but Odriozola being sent off meant the young Brazilian had to play as a wing-back.

Brahim Diaz – N/A
Came on for Vinicius Junior in the last ten minutes of the match to make his first appearance of the season.
