Real Madrid Leave With Their Heads Held High…

Since Real Madrid’s shocking 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last week, every Madridista in the world was anticipating a historic comeback at the Bernabeu and today proved why everyone had belief.

The stadium was packed with the fans chanting Real Madrid’s name, the players came out ready to give everything they possibly have to make it to the final, and every fan around the world tuned in to witness a great comeback. But it wasn’t meant to be…

Early chances by Gonzalo Higuain, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mesut Ozil gave Real Madrid hope that they could actually accomplish this but as the first half ended 0-0, things seemed to be close to impossible. As the second half began, they came out ready to continue fighting albeit some scares from Borussia Dortmund as Robert Lewandowski had his fair share of opportunities and even hitting the crossbar in one of them. As the last seven minutes came, everything changed.

Grande, Sergio Ramos!
Grande, Sergio Ramos!

Just when Real Madrid seemed to have lost all possible hope, they bounced back and a goal from substitute Karim Benzema gave them the hope that seemed to almost disappear. Then came Sergio Ramos to make it 2-0 and, for the first time, things seemed as though they will go Madrid’s way but time was not on their side as they ended the game losing on a 4-3 aggregate.

You can blame Howard Webb; you can blame Ronaldo, you can even blame the whole team but one thing is for certain: Over the two legs, Borussia Dortmund deserved to be in the final of the UEFA Champions League.

But Real Madrid showed spirit and determination and they can easily leave with their heads held high after beating Dortmund 2-0. They played a great match and a special mention has to go to Sergio Ramos who lead the team brilliantly tonight. Hopefully next year, Real Madrid and their fans can look forward to ‘La Decima’ and learn from all their mistakes this season. As for now, we have to concentrate on the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid as it is our only hope of silverware this year…

HALA MADRID!!!
